When the message of joy is hurtled through the darkness into our broken world it creates havoc in our hearts. The huge contrast between joy and darkness brings about an incredulity at the impossibility. Yet a glimmer of hope flickers and we struggle to fan the trust in a good, good God.
In the Struggle
In our loneliness and pain; in our heartaches with no gain God bends near. It is when we are bowed beneath our load and are struggling to take the next step that we must choose to trust our faithful God. In the dark, when we cannot see, the message is still the same. Emmanuel, God with us.
God doesn’t turn His back on the stench of our mess. It is not with disdain that God comes near. On the other hand, it is with a heart of unspeakable love for you that He gathers you close and walks with you. When we face the dark of pain, God enters the darkness with us. He brings the Light, when we cannot see and He brings Love when we cannot feel.
The Message of Christmas
This time of Advent reminds us that God has not left us. He has come. As you huddle close in the cold of your pain, and groan with the sorrow of what could have been, lean into the Father’s heart. Burrow deep into the Father’s love as you wait for dawn to break. Fan the message of joy into a leaping flame of trust.
Today, as you face the hard and struggle to go on, accept the gift of Christmas. Jesus is the gift of Christmas. He is the message your heart needs. Jesus has entered into this world to become a reality in your life. As you wait, wait with expectation. Wait with a heart lifted in gratitude. Let your soul be stilled with a choice to trust your life into the faithful hands of God. As you take refuge in his arms, rejoice in knowing God’s love for you will not falter.
“For God so loved…that He gave…” (John 3:16) He continues to offer extravagant love to each of us. A message of love that will light a candle in our darkness and a healing for the pain we encounter. This Christmas remember that God is here. Here for you.
