I’m still a Pennsylvania girl at heart. Dirt roads, homesteading before it was popular, the love of family and bare foot adventures in the Allegheny National Forest characterized my growing up years.

I still love dirt roads, homesteading, family, bare feet and forest adventures. Rainy days and a favorite book are good for my soul. I love chasing sunrises and sunsets, as well as finding solitude along a gurgling creek. Bible studies, deep conversations, hot coffee and travel are at the top of my favorites list. Cooking and baking have become an enjoyable way to say, ‘I care about you,’ to family and friends.

Today, I live in a log cabin on a small acreage in southern Indiana with my husband of 31 years. Three sons and two daughters made up our family unit. We have welcomed three daughters-in-law, a son-in-law and two grandchildren into our family. Our last daughter at home is in a flurry of preparation for her upcoming marriage in the spring.

I first began blogging in 2007 as a way to keep my family updated on life’s happenings when my children were small. Since then, with the encouragement of my husband and children, it has morphed into a devotional blog where I share lessons that God is teaching me in Scripture and day to day life.

I’m a big believer in expecting God to show up in the middle of our mess. Why? Because I’ve had times in my past where the struggle to believe through the darkness was all too real. And then God showed up. Again and again.

I want this online space be a place of encouragement for you in the the middle of your chaos. To remind you that God is always faithful despite the outlook. Here in this nook, take time to breathe deep and find a stillness of soul that will provide growth for your inner life.
