It is in the daily moments of grace that we can gain equilibrium when our world is spinning out of control. Election turmoil and Covid crisis have wreaked havoc on our country. Division runs deep and differences are glaring. Fear and anxiety grip our hearts in worry of what is ahead for our beloved nation. Voting right or voting left. Whether our side wins or whether we lose we must anchor our soul in the Rock of ages.

Come and Find Rest

It is within this moments of turbulence that we must find rest for our souls. When fear crushes and burdens lie heavy around us Jesus stands beckoning us to come.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give your rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest for your souls.”

Matthew 11:28-30

When life is laden with turmoil and crisis we must come to Jesus. He invites us to lay our burdens down. Choose to shed the worry and fear and place our faith in the One who calms the storms and heals the sick.

Take moments to still before the Creator and learn of him. He gives moments of grace and mercy. Jesus draws us to himself to help us let go of the debilitating fear of “what ifs.”

As we lay our burdens down in the daily moments of our life, we can find that our hope is rooted in Christ and His Almighty Power.

Moments of Grace

He gives moments of grace if we just stop to see and accept. The sunset at the end of the day is like a love letter from our God. He enfolds us in the warmth of his love and reminds us that He is still in control. The wind that brings the leaves twirling and dancing to the ground provides a smile to our hearts. The gurgling stream, the starry sky, the whispering breeze and the hues of autumn all whisper of the greatness of our God. The money that arrived in the mail, the physical touch, the care of a friend or a specific answer to prayer are all moments that God gives to help us onward and forward.

Jesus longs for us to come to him and find the strength He provides. When our gaze is fixed on Christ and the vastness of his power our souls can be at rest. God governs the nations. His control of our world has not slipped. He knows the way we take. Whatever we face, God has gone before and will provide the grace and strength for each one who claims the name of Christ.

In the waiting, lets us keep moving forward. Doing the next thing. Prepare that meal with joy. Celebrate the little things. Make that special dessert for your loved ones. Stop and read a story to your littles. Treasure the moments that you have been given. Let the daily moments of grace give balance to your soul. Live fully and trust that God knows the bigger plan.
