I caught a glimpse of you today
behind the walls of your captivity.
The mental fog you wander in
was pushed away to let me in.
It was just a smile and laughter, too
That took me back a year or two.
The words you said stood apart “I’m glad for you” went straight to my heart.
When all was clear and to you I turned
Life was hard, I had to learn.
You prayed the prayers to help me through
When there was nothing I could do.
Though today, I cannot call
when life brings to me an unscalable wall.
The lesson you taught is loud and clear
“That God Himself will always be near.”
The prayers you prayed still live on
As God Himself keeps me strong.
Though now you live with knowledge gone
And your days are so unspeakably long.
Now it’s time for me to pray
to help you through these long, hard days.
And Mom, I want to give God the praise
For this moment near Mother’s Day.
When I caught a glimpse of you
A moment that spanned a decade or two.
