As we celebrate Thanksgiving and all the blessings that we have.
We hearken back to yesteryear and what the Pilgrims had.
They suffered through the bitter cold and ate but rations few.
They suffered scarcity and sickness and death seemed to be their due.
With numbers brought to half as much and facing winters squall
The Pilgrims fought to stay alive, on God they all did call.
The man who led the colony, Bradford was his name.
Led them to the God above; in humbleness they came.
They made it through that first hard year, with gratitude to God.
When harvest came again, there was bounty from the sod.
The Pilgrims and the Indians, they gathered round that day.
To celebrate with thankul hearts how God had blessed their way.
I cannot help but wonder, if we had lived that time
Would we be among the thankful, or complain when trials came?
It’s gratitude that gives us strength to make it through our days
So do not ration out your thanks; in trials give God praise.
For God gives abundant mercies in days of storm and calm.
Just open up your eyes to see, we’re held within his palm.
Take inventory of your heart and sing praises once again.
Gather round with gratitude with all your kith and kin.
Give God the praise that’s due his name, and trust his promise sure.
Through the calm and through the storm, his faithfulness is more.
Let’s celebrate with thankful hearts, no matter what we face.
Don’t ration out your gratitude to just one day of thanks.
