The early morning hours were shrouded in grey darkness. The weatherman had been right and rain pelted my windshield. Rain that would soon turn to snow.

treasures of the snow

Driving through rain and snow is not my ideal of a good road trip. When I’m home and tucked into my cozy cabin, snow is most welcome. Yet, the miles stretched out before me with warnings of hazardous road conditions and slick surfaces flashing through my mind.

Snow Treasures

After passing vehicles that had slipped off the highway, my vigilance heightened. Fear constricted my heart. Conversation with my Heavenly Father was continuous. Into my heart came the words, “treasures of the snow.” I knew they were words spoken in the book of Job. In fact these words were spoken by God in the form of a question to Job.

“Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow?”

Job 38:22

Job had faced heart rending losses and painful ailments. Despite the despair that welled up in his heart, Job clung to what he knew of God and hung on with hope for deliverance. Silence met his pleas for an answer from God. His searching turned up nothing. Yet, Job still trusted.

At the end of the book of Job, God speaks. He reveals more of Himself through a series of questions. Thought provoking questions that bring a deeper understanding of the character of God.

As the miles slipped away, I found myself reflecting on the question, “What treasures could I find in this hazardous situation?” Could I find treasures in the snow?

When I began my journey, I had wanted to call somebody to ask them to pray but was reluctant to wake anyone. Then I was reminded of my Intercessor. The one who I knew who never slumbered or slept. There before me was the first “treasure of the snow” that I claimed. Jesus was praying for me.

A Blanket of Treasures

As the pelting rain turned to swirling snow I found my heart searching for treasures of the snow. My thoughts came in flurries like the snow coming down and before long I had a blanket of treasures to enfold my fearful heart.

  • Jesus is my Intercessor.
  • He never slumbers or sleeps.
  • Jesus is praying for me.
  • Storms bring opportunities to see the hand of God at work.
  • In our weakness, He is strong.
  • God is enough for my situation.
  • God’s love for me is unwavering.
  • Jesus has promised never to leave us nor forsake us.
  • Praise grants us entrance to the throne room of God.
  • God gives strength to the one who waits on Him.
  • Trust in God brings peace of mind and joy of heart.
